ISPA organization member Force Majeure was founded in 2002 by Ms. Champion, and her colleagues, Roz Hervey and Geoff Cobham. It is currently one of the most influential dance theatres in Australia, and commits itself to producing "stimulating, accessible, highly produced dance theatre that questions, reflects and engages with contemporary culture using intelligence, humour, pathos and insight."
According to Ms. Champion's colleagues: “It will be a wrench for Force Majeure to say goodbye to our founding Artistic Director Kate Champion. Kate’s leadership of this company has seen it mature into one with a strong national presence and growing international reputation."
