(c) GMG Andreas MerzThe Mayor of Munich has announced that Brigitte von Welser will retire as Managing Director of Gasteig in March, 2017. The Gasteig is Germany's largest cultural center, home of the Munich Philharmonic Orchestra and other cultural institutions as the Municipal Library, Higher Education College and the Music Conservatoire of Munich. It hosts over 1700 performances and 1.7 million visitors annually.

Brigitte von Welser has led the Gasteig since 1999 and is delighted that her successor will be her ISPA colleague Max Wagner. Max, who serves in ISPA's Membership Committee, is currently working in his home town of Munich as managing director leading on the renovation of the Gärtnerplatz Opera Munich. He previously served for a very successful six years as the managing artistic director of the Stuttgart Chamber Orchestra.

Both Gasteig and Gärtnerplatz Opera Munich are proud ISPA members. The original news release published by the Gasteig in German can be found on Gasteig's website. Join us in congratulating on the announcement of Brigitte's retirement and Max's new appointment!
