On behalf of our host of Leeuwarden-Friesland 2018 ISPA Congress, Off the Beaten Track, the International Society for the Performing Arts (ISPA) is delighted to announce the recipients of the Leeuwarden-Friesland 2018 ISPA Awards.

Distinguished Artist Award

Presented to artists who have made an outstanding contribution of talent, artistry, dedication, and service to the world of the performing arts:

  • Nasrdin Dchar 

    Nasrdin Dchar has impressively shared his profoundly personal reflection on life with his audience through his performances and continues to call upon society to embrace diversity, unity and active democracy.

  • Lotte de Beer 

    With both feet firmly on the ground, rising star stage director Lotte de Beer challenges tradition in her opera productions while being passionately engaged in bringing opera to new and younger audiences.

International Citation of Merit

Presented for unique lifetime achievement which has enriched the international performing arts:

  • Joop Mulder

    We salute Joop Mulder’s lifetime achievement as founder of the Oerol Festival on Terschelling for the magic he brought not only to the island, but to the lives of countless artists, audience members and the theatre sector as a whole. 

The awards will be presented at a ceremony to be held during the Leeuwarden-Friesland 2018 ISPA Congress, on Friday, June 15, 2018 at the De Harmonie.
