Board/Committee Nominations

ISPA’s Board of Directors and Standing Committee members are the stewards of our network and responsible for reflecting the views, interests, and diversity of our international members. Member participation in the nomination process is integral to effectively populating these governing bodies.

Process

Each year the Nominating Committee solicits nominations to the Board and Standing Committees from the ISPA membership. These nominations fold into the Nominating Committee’s recommendation for committee participation as well as the proposed slate of nominees for the Board at the Annual General Meeting for approval by the membership.

Board of Directors

The Board is responsible for and entrusted with the governance and strategic direction of ISPA. It includes up to twenty-five ISPA members who reflect the diversity of the membership. Directors are appointed for an initial three year term and are eligible to sit for a maximum of two terms.

Requirements

During their tenure, Board members must:

• Be ISPA members in good standing;
• Attend all congresses and bi-annual board meetings (with exception for extraordinary events);
• Participate on one Standing Committee;
• Be in compliance with ISPA’s Conflicts of Interest Policy;
• Make an annual donation to the Fellowship Challenge Campaign at a personally meaningful level;
• Advocate on behalf of the organization in an effort to solicit memberships, sponsorship, contributions, and broader awareness.

Standing Committees

The Board is supported by eight Standing Committees: Advancement, Audit, Executive, Finance, Governance, Membership, Nominating, and Program. While a formal nomination is not required for committee participation, member input is vital as committee participation is the first step towards consideration for board membership. Committee Members are appointed for a two year term and may serve for up to two successive terms.

Requirements

Committee Members must:

• Be ISPA members in good standing;
• Attend 75% of the scheduled meetings annually and not miss more than two consecutive meetings (with exception for extraordinary events);
• Attend one congress annually;
• Be an advocate on behalf of the organization.
