![]() Mohanapriyan ThavarajahDance Artist (Bharatanatyam) Mohanapriyan Thavarajah is recognized as one of the world’s young male dance artiste of Bharatanatyam- the classical dance form of South India. While deeply rooted in tradition his innovative approach to Bharatanatyam revitalizes physicality, musicality and expressive theatricality of the dance form to create an exceptional style that is distinct to his personality, which has been well received as “refreshing” by audiences across the world. Mohanapriyan is an innovative choreographer; most of his solo and ensemble works are presented regularly at leading local and international dance festivals around the globe and have been acclaimed with appreciations from renowned dance critics. He is a first-class gold medalist for his Bachelors and Masters degrees in Bharatantyam from the Bharathidasan University, India and has completed his Mphil in Bharatantyam at the Tanjavur Tamil University. He is currently pursuing his Phd in researching the influence on Indian claissical dance in the South Aast Asian dance forms. Since 2013, Mohanapriyan has been with Apsaras Arts Dance company, Singapore, and currently is the Associate Creative Director, Principal Dancer and Resident Choreographer of the company.
