| ISPA 2026 Singapore Congress – Shawn Chua |
![]() Shawn ChuaDramaturg Shawn Chua is a Singapore-based artist, researcher, and dramaturg whose practice unfolds across performance, play, speculative inquiry, and institutional experiment. Working across disciplinary and sectoral contexts, he engages dramaturgy not simply as a support function but as a mode of thought: a way of composing conditions for collective reflection, aesthetic disorientation, and the rehearsal of other worlds. His work is drawn to embodied archives, uncanny personhoods, participatory structures, and aesthetic forms that estrange the familiar. Shawn has developed performances, publications, prototypes, and facilitated processes that explore contingency, world-building, and the political force of disorientation. His work asks how performative and ludic structures might make available new relations to uncertainty, collectivity, and the not-yet-articulable. He holds an MA in Performance Studies from New York University and is a recipient of the National Arts Council Scholarship (Postgraduate).
