For the last 15 years Schweigman& under the artistic leadership of Boukje Schweigman has been making award-winning and tone-setting work, immersing the audience in visual, poetic, sensory spaces. Her theatre without words plays with dramatic conventions and codes, producing exceptional performances that are unique and unforgettable. Productions are made for a broad range of audiences, in the theatre and on location with site-specific and installation work.
With a strong focus on the language of the body and the contextual space, the work offers playful and sensory experiences, performing across the Netherlands in both the festivals and theatre circuit and international in Belarus, Belgium, Bolivia, China, Egypt, Iran, Italy, Jordan, Lebanon, UK.
Boukje Schweigman graduated in 2003 from the Amsterdam Theaterschool’s renown physical theatre programme and won both of the major theatre prizes, the Ton Lutz Award and the Top Naeff Award. In 2012 the performance Spiegel won the Mime Prize.
