Magnus Aspegren has been the Managing Director of the Swedish National Theatre since January 2014. He was previously the Managing Director of the Folk Opera, Managing Director and Artistic Director of the Norrland Opera and Vice-Chancellor of the University College of Opera in Stockholm. He has many years of experience in international cooperation and genre-overarching performing arts, including collaboration relating to dance and opera in South Africa and Vietnam. At the University College of Opera he merged three colleges into one, with a clear focus on developing artistic research. As the Managing Director of the Swedish National Theatre, Magnus is tasked with making performing arts more democratic, including through research, in order to move away from traditional settings and reach new audiences.
