After opening its online registration, the leading classical music meeting Classical:NEXT has announced high-ranking speakers for their 2017 edition. The Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra will appear as part of the festival program with a specially-commissioned European premiere of Michael Gordon's "The Unchanging Sea".

Taking place next May in Rotterdam, Classical:NEXT's conference program will address the implications of and possible answers to populist developments such as Brexit and the US election in a session chaired by Cathy Graham (British Council's Director of Music). This will be part of a larger focus on opportunities offered by more diversity in the contemporary and classical music scene. Key players involved in shaping these conference contributions are Chi-chi Nwanoku, Artistic Director of Chineke! Foundation, and Afa Dworkin, President and Artistic Director of the US-American Sphinx Organisation.

Visit the official website of Classical:NEXT for detailed program information. More program for the event is to be announced in January. The online registration is open now. To enjoy the best-priced Smart Rate, delegates must register and book stands by Friday, January 13 2017.
