ISPA Members Invited to the World Premiere of "Children of God"

Saturday, April 1, 2017   (0 Comments)

ISPA members are invited to the world premiere of Children of God written by ISPA's 2017 Fellowship Program participant Corey Payette. Through this musical, Corey, of Oji-Cree heritage from Northern Ontario, tells the story of the trauma and aftermath of residential schools that an Oji-Cree First Nation family in Northern Ontario faces. This musical is produced in collaboration with the National Arts Centre, also an ISPA member, and will be shown as part of the Centre's Canada 150 program in Ottawa.

For me it (Canada 150)'s about educating non-Indigenous people, educating mainstream audiences, on what would this have been like if this had been your child? What would that have done to your family and the future of their children and the intergenerational trauma of that?"

ISPA members who want to attend Children of God at National Arts Centre can request a comp ticket. Email Clayton Baraniuk at clayton.baraniuk@nac-cna.ca if interested in attending.

Below is a short interview that Corey did with Canadian Broadcasting Corporation.
