ISPA member Max Wagner, managing director of the Gasteig München GmbH, shared delightful news that the Munich city council has decided to spend up to EUR 450 million for the renovation and modernization of the Gasteig, Europe’s largest cultural center.
“This is a historical day for the Gasteig as well as for the vibrant cultural and educational life in Munich,” Wagner said. The renovation program will include among others an acoustical optimization of the Philharmonic Hall, better and larger classrooms for the adult education center, and more space for the library. A special highlight is the addition of a new rooftop restaurant and panoramic terrace overlooking Munich’s city center.
To celebrate the announcement, Max Wagner and former managing director Brigitte v. Welser launched 500 helium-filled balloons, each carrying a postcard with the words “The new Gasteig is coming!"
