Following Four-Year Development, "Under the Horizon" Launches with International Premieres

Today we’re highlighting a collaboration between Huang Yi, Ryoichi Kurokawa and Nederlands Kamerkoor, Under the Horizon. You may remember this work in early development was first introduced to ISPA delegates at the Melbourne 2016 ISPA Congress.

Huang and audiovisual artist Ryoichi Kurokawa developed groundbreaking video techniques to craft a world where shadows and humans meet. Driven by the worldwide plight of refugee migrants, the shadows represent humanity’s universal search for hope, home and belonging. In this breathtaking work, Huang and his dancers, enveloped by the internationally acclaimed Netherlands Chamber Choir, travel to the hereafter riding on the ethereal sounds of the human voice, seeking to unite body and soul. Two years later, Under the Horizon has just completed a successful 8-city premiere run in the Netherlands as well as an Asian premiere in Taipei. Curious to see the outcome of the work’s development and these recent premieres? Watch Under the Horizon’s new trailer below.

With a proven track record for success, ISPA’s Pitch New Works program continues to assist works in development with securing touring dates, regional agents, co-commissions, premieres and more.
