The ninth edition of Classical:NEXT will take place at De Doelen in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, from May 18-21, 2020. The original dates of the ninth edition of Classical:NEXT coincided with the dates of the Eurovision Song Contest, which is also taking place in Rotterdam. The decision to changes the dates derived from the concerns that, given the large influx of people Rotterdam will face during original dates and the many capacities the Eurovision Song Contest requires, accommodation will be limited and considerably more expensive for the duration of the event.
Classical:NEXT not only has new dates, but will be held on different days of the week. For 2020, the global gathering will span Monday to Thursday and, as a result, new hours and a new schedule have been unveiled.
Following its successful debut at Classical:NEXT 2019, the Higher Music Education Pre-Conference will take place once again, but new to the program is the welcome on the first day to mark the opening of the trade fair and the first night celebration on the same day in the evening.
