ISPA Award Recipient![]() Javier Camarena2019 Distinguished Artist Award Recipient Originally from Xalapa, Ver., Camarena began his studies at the Faculty of Music of the Universidad Veracruzana and graduated with honors from the Bachelor of Music at the University of Guanajuato. Winner of the National Singing Contest Carlo Morelli in 2004, made his debut in a starring role as Tonio in "The Daughter of the Regiment", by Donizetti, at the Palace of Fine Arts. In 2005, he won the first place in the Juan Oncinas Singing Contest in Barcelona. Later in 2006, he joined the International Opernstudio in Zurich, under the tutelage of Mtro. Francisco Araiza. In 2014, accompanied by Mtro. Ángel Rodríguez on piano, presented his debut album RECITALES that includes Italian and Mexican folk songs and this 2015 launches SERENATA that includes only popular Mexican music with the participation of Mtro.
