![]() John McGrathArtistic Director and Chief Executive John E. McGrath is the Artistic Director and Chief Executive of Manchester International Festival (MIF), the world’s first festival of original, new work and special events, staged every two years in Manchester. He is responsible for the artistic and strategic vision for the biennial Festival and The Factory, the new world-class cultural space currently being built in the heart of Manchester. Whilst delivering a festival every two years, he will lead The Factory in presenting a year-round programme of performing arts, visual arts and popular culture from the world’s most exciting artists. He was previously Artistic Director of National Theatre Wales (2009-2015) and Contact Theatre in Manchester (1999-2008). Awards include the National Endowment for Science Technology and the Arts (NESTA) Cultural Leadership Award (2005) and an Honorary Doctorate from the Open University (2015). His book “Loving Big Brother: Performance, Privacy and Surveillance Space” was published by Routledge in 2004. Speaker |
