Wray Armstrong

Wray Armstrong

Founder and Chairman
Armstrong Music and Arts (Beijing/Hong Kong/London)
China

After a twenty-five year career in orchestra management in Canada and artist management with ICM Artists and IMG Artists in London, Wray Armstrong founded his company, Armstrong Music and Arts, and moved from London to China in 2009, first based in Shanghai, and later Beijing.

A pivotal figure in cultural diplomacy, he orchestrated inaugural performances for newly established concert halls and opera houses across China, securing appearances by world-renowned maestros and orchestras including Charles Dutoit with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Mikhail Pletnev with the Russian National Orchestra, Jiří Bělohlávek with the Czech Philharmonic, and the Academy of St Martin in the Fields. His programming acumen further brought landmark performances to Chinese audiences featuring Krzysztof Penderecki, Anne-Sophie Mutter with the Warsaw Philharmonic Orchestra, Joshua Bell, Yo-Yo Ma's Silk Road Ensemble, and operatic luminaries Angela Gheorghiu and José Carreras.

In 2019, he co-founded Poly-Armstrong – a joint venture between Armstrong Music & Arts Management and Poly Theatres. Currently Armstrong arranges tours and projects with more than 300 performances per season across China and Asia.
