Ms Friedman joined the West Kowloon Cultural District Authority (WKCDA) in October 2017 as Artistic Director, Performing Arts. She leads the dance, theatre, xiqu, music and outdoor, learning and participation teams of the Performing Arts Division. In June 2019, she took up additional role to serve as Acting Executive Director, Performing Arts and is responsible for steering the planning and development of the performing arts facilities in the District, and for overseeing the strategies and operating models for these facilities. Ms Friedman is a board member of the International Society for the Performing Arts. Fluent in Mandarin Chinese, she founded the cultural exchange organisation Ping Pong Productions (PPP) in 2010 after studying as a Fulbright scholar at the Department of History in Peking University and the Beijing Dance Academy in Mainland China in 2002-2003.
