Markéta Fantová

Artistic Director
Artistic Director Prague Quadrennial 19/23
Czech Republic

Markéta Fantová is a Performance designer/scenographer and team collaborator with extensive artistic team leadership and education program building skills. University educator with 10+ years of undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate teaching experience. Cross cultural project developer, diversity advocate and international curator who actively connects emerging designers with international networks and current theatre industry players.

She has worked in theatres, galleries and visually inspiring sites in both the United States and Europe. She is currently living in Prague. In the past seven years she had been concentrating all of her energy and skills into shaping one of the most important festivals dedicated to scenography/performance design, the Prague Quadrennial of Performance and Space (PQ) in the position of an artistic director. This work put her into direct contact with theatre makers, designers, theorists and emerging artists from over 100 countries. She gained valuable experience in cultural diplomacy, team building and cross-cultural collaboration. Currently she took on a new challenge and is developing an international education platform for lighting design and technology students from many different countries as part of the New Robe Generation program. She sees this work for Robe Lighting as a unique opportunity to participate in bridging the gap between formal education and lighting design/technology practice.
