Alex Sarian is the bestselling author of The Audacity of Relevance: Critical Conversations on the Future of Arts and Culture (ECW Press / Simon &Schuster, 2024) and President & CEO of Arts Commons, one of Canada’s leading arts centers, where he is overseeing the largest cultural infrastructure project in the country’s history. Prior to moving to Calgary in 2020 and becoming the youngest executive to oversee a major performing arts center in North America, he spent two decades in New York City, where he served as a senior executive at Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts. Born in Toronto and raised in Buenos Aires, he’s worked on cultural projects in fifteen countries across five continents, and has served on governing and advisory boards around the world, including the Calgary Downtown Association, Museo de Arte Moderno de Buenos Aires, The New Group, SXSW, Tourism Calgary, and The Varkey Foundation.
