![]() Omar RajehChoreographer and Artistic Director Omar Rajeh is a choreographer, dancer, and the founder and artistic director of Maqamat. Initially based in Lebanon, he relocated to Lyon in 2020, creating and developing projects between Lebanon, France, and internationally. He was awarded the title Chevalier de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres by the French Ministry of Culture for his contributions to culture. Across more than twenty works, Omar Rajeh has forged a politically, socially, and artistically critical practice performed on major international stages. His latest production, Dance People (2025), which premiered at Edinburgh International Festival, challenges power structures, redefines collective space, and celebrates shared presence with audiences. A Central to his practice is a conceptual and physical approach that conceives the body as ‘multi-bodies’; a constellation of centers of signification in constant dialogue, expanding dance into a space of expression, presence, and confrontation. Omar Rajeh is also the founder of BIPOD - Beirut International Platform of Dance, co-founder of the Masahat network, and initiator of Takween and Moultaqa Leymoun, with a commitment to encourage artistic exchange and visibility internationally.
