Rick Brayford has a twenty five-year association with Australian contemporary Indigenous theatre and performance. He has directed over thirty productions and has been extensively involved in the facilitation and creation of new Australian First nations work. Rick has a wide-ranging history as an acting teacher and mentor including five years in the Pilbara region of Western Australia creating theatre out of the Matt Dann Cultural Centre in Port Hedland; three years in Broome with the Western Australian Academy of Performing Art’s (WAAPA) Aboriginal Music Theatre course. He currently coordinates the Aboriginal Performance programme at WAAPA in Perth Western Australia. Rick is recipient of the Neville Bonner Award for Indigenous Education for his contribution to Contemporary-Indigenous performing arts.
