![]() Jeremy SmithWA Performing Lines Jeremy Smith lives and plays in Boorloo (Perth) and works with Performing Lines as Senior Producer–WA. Most recently, he was PICA’s General Manager, and previously the Director of Experimental Arts and Community Arts with the Australia Council for the Arts(nowCreative Australia). A core theme of his career has been working closely with artists, organisations and communities to promote artistic bravery, self-determination, authentic representation and to broker opportunities. He spent considerable time supporting initiatives and projects born out of regional and remote Australia, as well as developing and delivering key arts and disability programs. He is a graduate of WAAPA, and worked as a freelance lighting designer, production manager and creative producer in the early stages of his career. He is the chairperson of pvi collective, a board member of PICA, sits on the artistic advisories of Co3 Contemporary Dance Company, the 2023 Fremantle Biennale and a former member of the advisory board for the School of Media, Creative Arts and Social Inquiry at Curtin University. He is also part of Deakin University’s industry advisory group for the Leading Change: Audience Diversification in the Arts national research project, and a former board member of the Chamber of Arts and Culture WA (2020-2022). In March 2024, his writing was published in the second edition of The Relationship is the Project: A guide to working with communities. Jeremy’s chapter speaks to the power and abuse of labels in our society, and his own journey of avoidance and acceptance. Speaker |
