Karen is founding CEO in WILDTOPIA by Karen Toftegaard ApS that a.o. initiated and produces the award-winning and highly acclaimed #DANISH showcase at Edinburgh Festival Fringe. It has been presented in collaboration with the Danish Arts Foundation 2020 – 2023. In 2024 WILDTOPIA collaborates with the Embassy of Denmark in London and is supported by the Danish Ministry of Culture and Ministry of Foreign Affairs. During Covid Karen launched the critically acclaimed Digital First Performing Arts Festival – RE:LOCATIONS and the recognized workshop for creatives SHINE YOUR WORK. SHINE YOUR WORK is now transformed into an app and different workshop-formats. RE:LOCATIONS is revisited. 2017 - 2024 Karen has built up the international profile and strategy of Denmark's national festival CPH STAGE - as Head of International Programming and Production at CPH STAGE - Denmark`s national festival for performing arts. The purpose was all the time to connect people with the arts that made them understand themselves, each other and the world they are a part of - as well as empowering artists and producers in working internationally - placing Danish performing arts on the international map - and then sharing the platform with artists and producers from Faroe Islands and Greenland. Karen is Master of Arts in modern culture from Copenhagen University and Humboldt University (Berlin). She is a certified Shadow Facilitator and has a certification in Future Leadership. Karen Toftegaard has done a lot of board member work. She is currently vice chair in Danish Dance Theatre.
