Fellowship Participants![]() Fizza HasanArtistic Director Fizza Hasan is the Founder and Artistic Director of Theatre Wallay, a performing arts company in Islamabad, Pakistan, active since 2005. With extensive experience in direction, acting, writing, and arts management, she leads projects that use theatre as a medium for storytelling, education, and social change. Under her leadership, Theatre Wallay stages world literature, creates original plays, and runs initiatives for community engagement and cultural exchange, often in collaboration with embassies, NGOs, and cultural institutions. Her projects have engaged audiences across Pakistan and internationally. She has directed and performed in numerous productions and has been instrumental in fostering theatre’s role in community dialogue and advocacy in Islamabad. She has designed and facilitated theatre-based workshops for diverse audiences, from students and educators to marginalized communities. An ISPA Global Fellow for 2024-25, she was awarded the Chevalier de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres by the French Ministry of Culture (2025) for her contributions to the arts. In addition to theatre, she has a long career in education, teaching English literature and French, conducting teacher training, and mentoring young artists. Her work extends to writing, with published short stories, children's literature, and theatre scripts.
