Moss Te Ururangi Patterson is a choreographer, director, and senior arts leader with more than two decades of experience shaping contemporary performance in Aotearoa New Zealand and internationally. A 2020 New Zealand Arts Laureate, he has led major arts organisations through periods of growth, strategic repositioning, and international engagement, with a strong focus on sustainability, governance, and artistic excellence.

Currently CEO and Artistic Director of The New Zealand Dance Company, Moss brings together creative vision and executive capability. His leadership spans programme development, financial oversight, stakeholder engagement, international touring, cross-sector partnerships, and organisational strategy. He is recognised for building high-performing teams, mentoring emerging artists and arts managers, and strengthening institutional capacity within the performing arts sector.

Grounded in a Māori worldview and informed by tikanga, Moss is deeply committed to supporting and amplifying Indigenous creative practices. His work bridges large-scale productions, international collaborations, and interdisciplinary projects, positioning contemporary performance within global contexts while maintaining a strong connection to community.

Through governance roles and advisory work, he contributes to national conversations around equity, representation, and the evolving role of the arts in civic life. Moss is widely regarded as a thoughtful and strategic leader who balances creative innovation with operational discipline and understands the broader cultural, social, and economic ecosystems that sustain the arts.
