Cathie Boyd (Irish) has worked in the arts for over 30 years having spent 20 years as a stage director for opera, visual music and film, which included numerous international commissions presented in more than 25 countries such as Peak Performances, Montclair, USA; Singapore Arts Festival; Latvian National Opera; Muziekgebouw, Amsterdam & South Bank Centre, London.

Boyd set up Cryptic in 1994 with the desire to create innovative performances that would ‘ravish the senses’ and has successfully transformed the company into a producing art house focused on developing and presenting the next generation of Scottish and international talent. To further this mission, Cathie created the biennial, city-wide Sonica Glasgow festival in 2012 to present ‘sonic arts for the visually minded’.

Awards include Creative Programming for Sonica; NESTA Fellowship; European Woman of Achievement for the Arts; Outstanding Young Person Award; Junior Chambers of Commerce and an Edinburgh Festival Fringe First. Cathie also serves as President on the Board of IETM (international network for contemporary performing arts).
