View the full Schedule of Events. Álvaro Restrepo | Speaker El Colegio del Cuerpo Alvaro Restrepo studied Philosophy, Literature and Performing Arts before turning to dance. He received training in New York under Jennifer Muller, Martha Graham, Merce Cunningham and Cho Kyoo - Hyun, with whom he also worked. He founded the Athanor Danza company, and has performed in America, Asia, Europe and Africa. His work is characterized by involving a ceremonial atmosphere and sacredness of the scenic factor. Alvaro Restrepo has been the Deputy Director of Arts for the Colombian Institute of Culture (1992) and Director of the Higher Academy of Arts in Bogota (ASAB) (1993), where he created the first high-level contemporary dance school. Restrepo has received the Mobil Oil Pegasus Prize for Literature: Hamburg 1992, and the Simon Bolivar National Journalism Award 2007 for his chronicle Llora et labora – Memoirs of flesh. He resides in Cartagena de Indias since 1995, where he has founded, and directed - El Colegio del Cuerpo with Marie France Delieuvin since 1997.
