Minowin describes the act of recovering or clarifying direction. The Dancers of Damelahamid will work towards developing a new multi-media dance work, Minowin that integrates narrative, movement, song, performance, and multimedia design, connecting to landscapes from contemporary perspectives of customary Indigenous dance forms. Minowin describes how we clarify direction, as we recover and reinterpret the teachings that define and redefine who we are, and that is accessed through story, dance and song. The piece will explore the moments where we connect with one another, moments that bring new life into our artistic practices, the upheaval and rebalancing, and places of renewal for each generation as we redefine ourselves. The production will balance the performance space by adding contemporary reflections of Indigenous identity, through the multimedia elements, in order to immerse the audience in a narrative that illustrates moments of connection, understanding and renewal.

Minowin es el acto de recuperarse o aclarar dirección. Los Bailarines de Damelahamid desarrollarán una nueva obra multi-media, Minowin, que integra narración, movimiento, canción, performance y diseño multimedia y que conecta con paisajes de perspectivas contemporáneas de las formas tradicionales de danza indígena. A través de historias, baile y canciones, Minowin describe cómo aclaramos nuestra dirección mientras recuperamos y re-interpretamos las enseñanzas que nos definen y redefinen. La pieza explorará los momentos en los que conectamos entre nosotros mismos, momentos que traen nueva vida a nuestras prácticas artísticas, de convulsión y equilibrio, y lugares de renovación para cada generación mientras nos redefinimos.
