Sustainability from Indigenous Perspectives

Friday, December 18, 2020   (0 Comments)
To conclude our first year of ISPAconvenes programming, ISPA members and Fellows Merindah Donnelly, Executive Producer, BlakDance, and Leslie McCue, Independent Producer, curated a far-reaching discussion around sustainability from Indigenous perspectives.

Merindah and Leslie asked Elders, artists and young people to respond to the urgent questions around climate justice. We were fortunate to hear from Elders Bob Weatherall and Rosella Kinoshameg, Preparing Ground, Minjerribah Dance Lab participants, and Monique Mojica (Artistic Director, Chocolate Woman Collective).

An hour could only skim the surface of the conversation, but as we concluded, Merindah and Leslie asked us to consider the following questions in reflection:

  • What are some ways to center the land and influence others in your circles/work/community to see this as a priority?
  • How can we take action as ISPA members?
  • What are the histories and issues of the land you are tuning in from?
  • How could relationships with land and peoples be incorporated into ISPA online?
Whether or not you were able to join us, take a moment to reflect on the above.

We invite you to share your reflections through this form for us to continue building upon the discussion.
