Javaad Alipoor is an artist and writer, and Artistic Director of The Javaad Alipoor Company. He’s known for using theatre and social media to investigate the intersection between contemporary politics and technology in a changing world. The Believers Are But Brothers and Rich Kids: A History of Shopping Malls in Tehran both won Fringe First Awards at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival before moving onto national and international tours. Beyond theatre, Believers was adapted for TV on BBC4 and a Rich Kidsdigital presentation was selected for ‘New Frontiers’ at the Sundance Film Festival. His latest work, Things Hidden Since the Foundation of the World, opened in 2022 at Battersea Ars Centre and HOME Manchester and is available for further touring. Javaad writes on middle eastern politics and cultural policy for The Guardian and The Stage. His plays have been published by Oberon and his poetry by Art in Unusual Places
