The Other Side of Me by NT Dance and produced by BlakDance (NT)

Delegate Tickets (400 tix)
6:00pm Tuesday April 30th - STC The Heath Ledger Theatre

The Other Side of Me translates into dance the true-life story of a young Aboriginal man, who was born in the 1960s in the Northern Territory, adopted by a white English family and raised in a remote hamlet in Cornwall, United Kingdom. Based on a collection of about 30 letters and poems the production communicates a story of personal trauma and poses questions about relationships between country of origin, identity, adoption, the criminal justice system and psychological health. The work is an international, cross-cultural collaboration between Northumbria University, UK and NT Dance Company, Australia.

7:30pm Wednesday 1st May - His Majesty's Theatre

SILENCE is about the space in between. Conversations not being heard and responses that are muted. A drumbeats and bodies thrash through frequencies to uncover what lies in the SILENCE. There is SILENCE between stars as the emu travels across the night sky, or the dancer’s energy when they hit the cut between rhythms. It’s also the deafening silence under white noise. The same questions echoed through generations. We’ve marched across Country. We’ve had promises made and broken. Choreographed, written, and directed by Minjungbal-Yugambeh, Wiradjuri and Ni-Vanuatu man Thomas E.S. Kelly, this new dance work pulls it from under the rug and slams it back on the table. Because the conversation about a TREATY will never be silenced.

I’m With Her by Victoria Midwinter Pitt (WA)

Delegate Tickets (400 tix)
7:00pm Thursday 2nd May/ 7:00pm Friday 3rd May - The Studio Underground

Since #metoo, all over the world, millions of women have told their stories. But in those accounts of what has happened to us, there’s a part that isn’t always told: what we did next.

Written by Emmy nominee Victoria Midwinter Pitt from conversations with eight very different Australian women - a bartender, a sex worker, a nun, a world champion surfer, an anthropologist & indigenous leader, a botanist, a counter-terrorism expert and Australia’s first female prime minister, I’M WITH HER is a thrilling real-life demonstration, by the ultimate girl-gang, of the power of women to outlast, outwit and out-muscle the great ugly beast of sexism.

In the performance model that has seen sold-out productions in festivals across Australia, I’M WITH HER will be delivered at ISPA by a cast made up mostly not of professional actors, but by women who are leaders in their fields and in their community – including scientists, slam poets, journalists, choir-leaders and teachers.

Together, they will light up the golden thread that runs right through the patriarchy and may yet be its undoing: the strengths women use to keep turning up to our own lives. Guts. Defiance. Wit. Acute emotional intelligence. Genius instincts for strategy and timing. And a healthy appetite for counter-attack.

“A brave and beautiful show. As a piece of resistance, it’s bloody brilliant” SYDNEY MORNING HERALD

CAN YOU HANDLE THE TRUTH?
The next big thing from kdmindustries is FAKE: a joyously chaotic deep-dive into alternative truths, fact checkers, AI, scams, conspiracy theories, polarisation within society and the general distortions of reality that are the hallmark of contemporary life. In FAKE, the audience experiences multiple realities simultaneously, viewing the work from between two massive video screens while the performers move through, around and above them. A beaten up sound-truck (the TRUTHMOBILE) sits in the middle of the space and spits out content: Live web scrapes from 4chan, Reddit and TikTok mixing with news broadcasts, ChatGPT, audience submissions, live video and pounding beats in a live snapshot of what the world is believing right now. Part performance, part installation, part rave: FAKE is an event unlike any other and guaranteed to be a completely new show every night. Choose your colour, pop your pill and enjoy the ride...

Esmé Quartet

Delegate Tickets (20 tix, 20% off for additional attendees once those passes are used up )
Monday 29th April, 7.30pm - Perth Concert Hall

Eloquent. Spellbinding. Monumental. Exquisite. How else can we describe the Esmé Quartet? Based in Germany, this ensemble launched its international career by winning first prize at the 2018 International String Quartet Competition at London’s Wigmore Hall. The ensemble then embarked on a whirlwind year of concerts in North America, Hong Kong and Japan. For their Australian debut the musicians play works which are the epitome of youth: an early work of Webern overflows with romantic invention, while Mendelssohn’s second String Quartet blazes with the heart-on-sleeve emotion of a teenage genius, and emerging Australian composer Jack Frerer’s Spiral Sequences is an exhilarating roller-coaster ride. Add to this Claude Debussy’s only string quartet, brimming with rhythmic and harmonic exuberance. Esmé comes from the medieval French word for ‘beloved’. Be among the first to discover why everyone loves Esmé.
