Fellowship Participants![]() Dapheny ChenIndependent Dance Artist Dapheny Chen is a Singapore independent dance artist who navigates the roles of choreographer, performer, and educator. Her practice prioritizes the dancing body, revisiting archived movement to reshape how dance and choreography are created, viewed, and experienced. Concerned with the provocations, connections, and criticality that arise from making and viewing dance, Dapheny breaks from her conventional training to explore sociopolitical ideologies, expanding the possibilities of contemporary dance and creating alternative experiences and entry points for conversations about change and knowledge. In her practice, she collaborates with inanimate objects, technology, film, alternative documentation techniques, and other bodies. Dapheny also delves into the labour dynamics of the arts, raising critical questions about the value, sustainability, and economics of artistic work. She holds a Master of Arts in Arts and Cultural Leadership, with her research focusing on work and labour practices within the contemporary dance sector. >>View Dapheny's member profile (member sign-in required) ISPA would like to thank National Arts Council Singapore for their partnership in this important regional initiative. |
