Yannick Noomen

Artistic Director
Nineties
The Netherlands

Yannick Noomen is an artist and artistic director of the Dutch theater company Nineties. He uses and fuses visual arts, digital media, literature, music and performance, while pleasantly disrupting theatre codes. In an attempt to make present times a little less elusive, he gathers new perspectives on our ever-changing world and the challenges that come with it. Embracing that there is no absolute perspective, he creates stories trying to give hold to our present times.

Driven by his curiosity he’s a versatile artist that creates contemporary performance art in collaborations with leading artists from different disciplines in- and outside the discourse of theater. Always aware of his context and acknowledging that new stories require new language, he radically chooses his forms and styles. Whether it’s a robot opera, a fictional tv show, a pop concert, or a digital installation, always breaking through the fourth wall reaching out to new audiences.
