Of Tongan and German descent, James brings a blend of business and artistic expertise to the performing arts. Raised in Germany, he returned to New Zealand to begin Commerce studies at the University of Auckland, before pivoting to Contemporary Dance at the New Zealand School of Dance. In 2014, he was invited to join Black Grace, New Zealand’s leading contemporary dance company, touring internationally as a dancer before completing his Bachelor of Commerce in 2016. Since then, James has served as Black Grace’s Manager, while also returning to the stage for major national and international productions in 2021 and 2022. Passionate about fostering global connections in the arts, he is dedicated to elevating Aotearoa’s Moana Oceania performing arts on the world stage.
