Mīria is a writer, director, and producer with over twenty years of experience. In theatre, her award-winning work includes and what remains, The Vultures and The Night Mechanics. Mīria’s work in cinema features the landmark portmanteau feature VAI, premiering at the 2019 Berlin International Film Festival as a historic milestone for Pacific women filmmakers, followed by the award-winning fire in the water, fire in the sky, the web-series Big Hair, Don’t Care, and Open Looks, have screened around the world.

Mīria’s heritage and relationships extend across both tāngata whenua and tāngata moana communities, grounding her practice deeply within both Indigenous and migrant spaces in Aotearoa New Zealand.

As a Creative Producer for Tawata Productions, Mīria has presented theatre in Aotearoa, Australia, Canada, Hawai’i and the United Kingdom. Her current work is Waiora Te Ūkaipō - The Homeland by writer and director Hone Kouka (Ngāti Porou, Ngāti Kahungunu, Ngāti Raukawa). Mīria is the co-founder and Executive Director of the Indigenous arts platform, Kia Mau Festival and a member of the Leadership Team of Pacific Festivals Aotearoa.
