Kenya
Esther Kamba is a Kenyan-Canadian producer, dramaturg and performance curator, based in Nairobi, working at the intersection of contemporary performance, non-traditional curation, and grassroots arts infrastructure. She is the Founder and Artistic Director of Musyi Arts and Playreading Kenya, a platform for incubating contemporary texts, fostering cross-cultural dialogue, and building sustainable ecosystems for performance practitioners. Playreading Kenya received the Jury's Special Award at the Kenya Theatre Awards. Her practice explores performance as a mode of research, with attention to dramaturgy, spatiality, ecology, and cultural memory. Working across site-responsive performance, adaptation, and interdisciplinary research, she investigates how artistic practice can produce new encounters with place and collective histories. Through Musyi Arts & Productions (MAPS), she brings artistic inquiry into dialogue with environmental, social, and cultural knowledge systems. With a BFA from York University, Esther combines artistic practice with cultural leadership and sector development.
