The UN predicts that by 2050, 66% of the world population will live in cities. And yet, humankind seems to flourish in smaller communities, regardless of calling the city or the countryside home. In a world that is tense with populism, climate change, conflict and massive migration, the significance of these territories in society seems to be changing. Over 310 delegates from 46 countriesexplored the unique countryside of Leeuwarden and Friesland, enjoyed site-specific theatre on the renowned landscape arts festival Oerol on the island Terschelling, and engaged in these questions, against the backdrop of the rich program of the European Capital of Culture!
