Minister for Culture and Democracy

Alice Bah Kuhnke is a member of the Green Party in Sweden and has been the country’s Minister of Culture and Democracy since October 2014. Bah Kuhnke has a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Stockholm and also has a number of management certificates, including from the Stockholm School of Economics. She has many years of experience and involvement in areas such as human rights, the environment and civil society. She has, for example, been a member of the board of directors of the Royal Dramatic Theatre (2006-2012) and of the Foundation for the Whole of Sweden Artistic Performers against Nazis (Stiftelsen Hela Sverige artister mot nazister) (2001-2007). Until she was appointed as a minister, she was the Director General of the National Agency for Youth and Civil Society Affairs (MUCF) in Sweden from 2013 to 2014, and before that she was a Sustainability Manager at ÅF AB (2009-2013). She has also served as the General Secretary of Fairtrade Sweden and as Operations Manager at Sektor3 – the think tank for civil society.
