M Born in Milan, he studied at the Civica Scuola di Musica and at the Centre de Musique Ancienne in Geneva.  

He is a founder member of the baroque ensemble "il Giardino Armonico”, which he has led since 1989. With this ensemble he has appeared as conductor and soloist on the recorder and baroque transverse flute all around the world.  He has performed with many prestigious artists including Cecilia Bartoli, Isabel Faust, Viktoria Mullova, Giuliano Carmignola,  Giovanni Sollima, Sol Gabetta, Katia and Marielle Labèque, Kristian Bezuidenhout.  

Antonini is in great demand as a guest conductor with many leading orchestras. His opera productions have included Mozart’s "Le Nozze di Figaro” and Handel’s "Alcina” at Teatro alla Scala in Milano, and "Giulio Cesare” with Cecilia Bartoli at Salzburg Festival, where he is conducting in 2013 Bellini’s "Norma”.  

From September 2013 he will be Artistic Director of the Wratislavia Cantans Festival in Poland.  

With il Giardino Armonico, he has recorded numerous CDs for Teldec, Naïve and Decca. With the Kammerorchester Basel he is recording the complete Beethoven Symphonies.

Jeden z założycieli barokowego zespołu Il Giardino Armonico, który prowadzi od 1989 roku. Z zespołem tym występował na całym świecie jako dyrygent oraz solista fletu prostego i barokowego fletu poprzecznego. Występował z wieloma znakomitymi artystami takimi jak: Cecilia Bartoli, Isabela Fausta, Viktoria Mullova, Giuliano Carmignola, Giovanni Sollima, Sol Gabetta, Katia i Marielle Labèque, Kristian Bezuidenhout. Jako dyrygent Antonini jest rozchwytywany przez wiodące zespoły orkiestrowe. Jego produkcje operowe to m.in. "Wesele Figara" Mozarta i "Alcina" Händela w mediolańskim Teatro alla Scala oraz "Giulio Cesare" z Cecilią Bartoli na festiwalu w Salzburgu, gdzie w 2013 roku dyrygował w przedstawieniu "Norma" Belliniego. W 2013 r. Antonini objął stanowisko dyrektora artystycznego wrocławskiego festiwalu Wratislavia Cantans. Z Il Giardino Armonico nagrał wiele płyt dla wytwórni Teldec, Naïve i Decca. We współpracy z Kammerorchester Basel z Bazylei pracuje nad wydaniem kompletu symfonii Beethovena.
